Early Spring

Our little snow episode here in North Carolina the other day reminded me of other snows and that Spring can often turn into a pseudo-winter quick as a wink.  So, that thought drove me to look back at some of our finer winter moments, creating the pictures below. Behold, winter in the midst of Spring.
All pictures are within our garden.

Whow knowws? Some of these could turn into a Spring Art Walk offering . . . Stranger things have happened

Tree Guy

So I went to see my dentist today for my semi-annual checkup.  I sat down in the chair, and, before I had my mouth filled with stuff--tools, people's hands et al, I happened to glance out the window. When what to my wondering eyes did appear but, Tree Guy, seen below. Seems our dentist in Concord, NC, Dr. Lockney, was bored looking out that same window day after day and thought to enhance the view by playing with one of the trees. Hence . . . Tree Guy.

And, voila, a new set of prints emerged, suitable for  art walking, should one ever show up. ctually we expect to be art strolling some time in February, and I shall stand ready to deliver.  The following prints are ready to be stretched. They are all part of the collection I shall call, Reflections.

Grassy

So, I'm sitting in the car, awaiting my dear wife--the birthday girl. Yeah, today is her birthday, predicted, I am certain, by the Mayans, just before they departed for wherever it is they went.  And see, the calendar shows that today is December 22nd. And her birthday is, you guessed it, December 22nd. Coincidence?? I think not.
So, at any rate, I'm sitting in the car at the local Farmers' Market, awaiting her return, when I look out the window and observe . . . see that's why I call it Observed Art . . . cuz on account of I have to observe it. So, I see this neat picture . . . right out the window. So, here it is. I like it and hope you do also. It's called Grassy. Grabby huh?

Winter 2013

With the arrival of the Frankensturm, that may deliver some first and very early snow to our little town, I began thinking of the next, Winter 2013 Art Walk.  may not participate in that one either--it's all getting too expensive. But, had I entered that February 2013 art show, I might (or might not) have entered what I call, Reflections--pictures of shiny things and their mirrored reflections.

Buttery Critters

Well finally a butterfly arrived in our little garden. We have been awaiting their arrival all summer, with many of our plants inviting their return and visit. So, this morning, a swallowtail arrived to dine at our garden cafe. They are such lovely, gentle creatures.

And finally, a monarch arrived in all its glory, truly a glamorous critter.

And with the ending of the grand Olympics, I thought we should acknowledge one of the masters of form, our very own hummers. Here are two shots worthy of the gold, for form at least.
