Buttery Critters

Well finally a butterfly arrived in our little garden. We have been awaiting their arrival all summer, with many of our plants inviting their return and visit. So, this morning, a swallowtail arrived to dine at our garden cafe. They are such lovely, gentle creatures.

And finally, a monarch arrived in all its glory, truly a glamorous critter.

And with the ending of the grand Olympics, I thought we should acknowledge one of the masters of form, our very own hummers. Here are two shots worthy of the gold, for form at least.

I just completed a small DVD with pictures and some music, titled Studies in Red. The studies are dominated by our brilliant red, Rose Mallow, but many other red flowers are included. A sampling is presented below:

Remembrance of Summer

Summer is here . . . with a vengeance some might say, especially if you live in the midwest. But Fall will be here at some stage and I am anticipating looking back, as winter approaches, on summery scenes and flowers. Maybe some of these scenes will even grace an Art Walk. Who knows? Stranger things have happened.
So, enjoy some scenes, even if a bit weird, from summer.

Abstracts

Looking towards a new Art Walk, that most unappreciated art form, sponsored, sort of, by the Cabarrus Arts Council--sort of, because, well they mostly ignore the artists who actually bring art to the Art Walk. But that's another story. I'm thinking of a set of somewhat abstract critter scenes, plus a set I will call "Incongruities".  More fun than art, but what I do isn't actually recognized as real art anyway.

Art Whimsy

I began yesterday with one floral picture, and then couldn't stop working on color and compositions that seemed nice, if a bit whimsical. I printed finally ten new pictures. Who knows for what reason. Maybe they will get into an Art Walk later this summer, or maybe they will just decorate our basement.  They seemed nice, so here they are.
