August Art Walk

Ahhh, see, we haven't even had the June Art Walk, and already I'm fussing about the August Art Walk, now scheduled for August 23rd.  Since I seem to like the pot pourri idea, I may bill this one as a Winter's Departure and Summer's Arrival Pot Pourri--a bit of this and a bit of that.  They're a bit all over the map, I'm afraid. Different places, different objects of art, different sizes. They will all be on canvas (assuming I don't run out of canvas or money first, and the sizes range from 24 inches wide to 60 inches. A few you may have seen before in a slightly different incarnation.

The Art Walk in June is scheduled for June 14th. Still playing around, but the following are some possibilities for that Art Walk. They mix some wintry scenes, with some color Infrared, and some recent Spring pictures. New Art

So, our little winter Art Walk has come and gone. As opposed to the normal crowd of 400- 600 people, we had maybe 100 tops. And as opposed to the norm of 20-30 artists we had maybe 8. Partly, the weather is to blame--high 30s and drizzling--not conducive to attracting a crowd of art patrons. The shrinking artist population is also partly weather, but mainly, I fear, because the artists may be tiring of subsidizing downtown business with little or no reward (that's sales). It looks possible that this event could simply dry up and disappear.  But we'll see.
Concord has two upcoming artsy events--the Spring Art Walk in April and then a Spring Into the Arts event downtown in early May (4th). The latter is sponsored by the downtown business group and will feature artists of all types displaying their works on main (Union) street. The downtown closes to traffic for this affair. It's more expensive for artists to participate, but also potentially more lucrative in terms of sales.

Early Spring

Our little snow episode here in North Carolina the other day reminded me of other snows and that Spring can often turn into a pseudo-winter quick as a wink.  So, that thought drove me to look back at some of our finer winter moments, creating the pictures below. Behold, winter in the midst of Spring.

Tree Guy

So I went to see my dentist today for my semi-annual checkup.  I sat down in the chair, and, before I had my mouth filled with stuff--tools, people's hands et al, I happened to glance out the window. When what to my wondering eyes did appear but, Tree Guy, seen below. Seems our dentist in Concord, NC, Dr. Lockney, was bored looking out that same window day after day and thought to enhance the view by playing with one of the trees. Hence . . . Tree Guy.
