November Art Walk

Hey, hey, the Arts Council has announced a November Art Walk. Not for pseudo-artists like me of course, because they cannot any longer provide indoor display space, and I choose not to display in the great out of doors--the weather don't you know.
But, assuming the tree lighting takes place again at the same time, folks should come out to see art and watch the great tree light up once again, despite President Trump.
Now, just cuz I will not be displaying, doesn't mean I will not be creating some watchable art.  So, here below, I give you the Richard Schmidt November Art Walk creations.  All the art is based on a watery theme. Well, except for the first six, which I have just added below. I just created them, just for fun, don't you know.

The Seasons Change

A Call for Change
The Alexander County Library in Taylorsville, NC is hosting an art exhibit for photographic artists. They are looking for artists to examine and portray the changing seasons. In their words:

"Hopefulness? Gratitude? Openness? Whatever it is, it's welcome.”

“A Promised Change” is open to photography submissions that explore the changing beauty of the natural world as well as images that explore the more expansive theme. The exhibit provides a space for photographers to tell unique stories that resonate. We welcome your diverse artistic interpretations inspired by the broader themes, as literal as landscape photography, as experimental as abstracts, or as personal as photographs that speak to you of seasonal change."

Their planned exhibition will run from November 7th through the end of December. As a local pseudo-artist, I appreciate their call for serious artistic interpretations of the seasonal nature of our world. Although I would not presume to submit work for this serious show, I exhibit below my own modest interpretations of the changing face of nature as we proceed through the seasonal shifts in color, temperature and Mother Nature's endless variations in artsy displays. So, here they are and may I wish the real artists a wonderful showing of their works.

August Art Non-Event

Well, it would seem it is now official. Our local Arts Council no longer wishes to sponsor local art walks. Oh there will be an event in August labeled an Art Walk, but it will be confined to the Old Courthouse galleries (where real artists' works appear), the lawn, and maybe other local galleries such as the Art Guild.  When I decry the absence of an Art Walk venue, I of course am talking about the space that used to be provided by the Arts Council, courtesy of the Piedmont Renaissance Center (old bank) Building. That lovely indoor space was made available to those of us pretend artists who loved displaying their work, but who would prefer not standing out in the rain to do so. We used to have 20-30 artists (some real, some like me) displaying their creations at the Old Bank Building. It was fun, we could chat each other up, admire our artsy creations and then await the several hundred folks who would inevitably come by to see our works. As I say, it was great fun.
But many/most good things eventually come to an end (sort of like America), so this particular fun probably had to end eventually.
So, in the best tradition of "Let's Pretend", here are the pieces I might have printed and displayed, had there been an actual Art Walk in August.
